Health campus open!

The St Mary's Community Health Campus opened its doors to patients on Monday 12 December 2011.

Hundreds of people had a sneak preview of the £18.6 million facility during open days at the end of November.

One of the organisers, Bev MacNaughton, Commissioning and Quality of Environment Manager, said: "Over the five days we had just over 500 people through the doors

"We had so many very positive comments about the buidling, environment, services moving in and the new artwork put up around the building.  We also had some very nice comments about our staff who kindly acted as guides."

Key features of the new-look campus comprise:

Block A (ex maternity block)

Ground floor

• Main entrance and reception
• Health promotion
• Multi-faith room
• League of Friends shop
• Cafeteria
• Stores and Facilities Management.

First floor

• Day care: elderly assessment/treatment
• Physiotherapy/occupational therapy
• Community mental health team.

Second floor

• Midwife-led birth centre
• Genito-Urinary Medicine and Contraception and Sexual Health.

Third floor

• GP-led intermediate care ward for 12-16 beds.

Fourth floor

• A training facility.

Block B (ex paediatric block)

Ground floor

• Out-Patients Department
• Podiatry
• Phlebotomy
• Speech and language therapy
• Chronic disease management
• Medical records
• NHS pharmacy
• Social services.

There will also be a hard-standing base outside Block B for a mobile breast-screening van.
